We went to the pediatrician last week, but it took me this long to get around to posting, because that’s the kind of week we’ve been having!
Dr. Vallance was happy to hear that Susie is finally all-but-night potty trained and gave me the go-ahead to use the Malem alarm for her at night time training when we get home from vacation. We’re also going to commence the fight against thumb sucking. Susie’s BMI is so small compared to her siblings, but I’m so grateful to have a wonderful doctor who knows her and what she eats and tells me she is growing perfectly for her body type. And who is very aware that my two big girls have totally different body types and BMIs, and that is something to stay chill about down the road. No concerns with Elizabeth, although we’re going to try again to stop the finger sucking!
Susie did totally flip out about even coming in the door and putting on her paper gown–just like Elizabeth at that age. Unscarred by the past, Elizabeth generously went first so that Susie could see there was nothing to be afraid of with a check-up, but I had to get on the examination table and hold Q down to get her finger pricked for the blood test…and again when she got her shots. The good thing is that since she came in early for her MMR booster (due to measles hitting our town and our church building and 90% of our social circle being anti-vax), she only had three shots this time. And we told her that as of these shots, she is FULLY vaccinated and doesn’t have to get another shot until her tetanus wears off in a decade! (Our practice uses the flu mist for 2 and up, so we really did mean it.) We celebrated by going next door to Walmart and buying chocolate covered graham crackers as a treat while I stocked up on road trip snacks. Great Value Brand chocolate covered graham crackers. I am that great of a mom.
