So I was planning on dazzling my devoted readers with amazing pictures of the adorable house we found in State College this weekend…except that we didn’t find it.
(3 bedroom single family homes available in June are scarce in a town of 30,000 where everything goes with the academic calendar…and thanks to the first time homeowners tax credit, people are selling instead of renting. We did visit a nice EFree church where people are going to keep their eyes open for us, but the plan now is for Derek to fly back and find something in a few weeks–in any case, I will be moving into a house sight unseen this summer.)
And the all-day drive to and from seriously messed with Elizabeth’s sleep schedule, in that she was NOT sleeping from 2-5 am. So as we failed at househunting all weekend, I was so bleary eyed and discouraged that I didn’t bother taking pictures of any Penn State landmarks…but I’m sure we’ll have lots of photo shoots in front of Berkey Creamery and the Nittany Lion shrine and the Dickinson School of Law in the coming year. So instead, here’s a picture of driving into Happy Valley (I can’t wait for fall there!) and Elizabeth playing with Uncle Matthew on the way home.

What a discouraging weekend. I’m so sorry Emily. We can thank Obama for distorting with the housing market, but we can thank God for preparing a home for you, even if it will be sight-unseen.
oh no. We were remembering you guys in prayer last weekend. Sorry you came home discouraged and tired. We will continue to pray for you, and like B, thank our God that He prepares homes for us on earth with as much care as He prepares ones for us in Heaven. <3
IU maintains a list for visiting faculty of temporary housing – like if a faculty member is leaving on sabbatical, they can advertise their house up for rent for a year or so. Maybe Penn State has something similar? (Here’s the IU site since I don’t think I explained that very well: http://www.indiana.edu/~vpfaa/housing.shtml)
