We spent our last night as St Louis residents hanging out with Seth and Leann. It’s appropriate, because we started this year with them, too. As soon as I found out we were moving to Missouri, I got so excited about living close to my childhood best friend! We stayed with the Carruthers when we came in to do house shopping, and Seth was here when we moved in to help Derek put together furniture while Leann took me to Walmart for those first night necessities. We fell into a fun tradition of Monday night walking dates (where Leann and I explored all over my neighborhood), dinner and Catan nights, and celebrations (Tommy’s birthday, Seth’s senior recital, a murder mystery). We’ve cooked for each other in times of loss and screwy health diets. They’ve been a huge part of our lives this year, so it was natural to bookend our St Louis residence with them. Seth and Leann, we love you, and we hope to see you in Chicago very soon!

Dearest Em! We are so glad that we got to spend time with you again before you left. I am missing you already. I am trying to be glad for the unexpected blessing of having you as my neighbor for a year–the closest we have ever lived together–but I was so spoiled by having you here that it is very hard to let you go. Seth and I drove through Rock Hill last night on our way home from work and I had to work pretty hard not to feel forlorn as I saw streets we liked to walk on.
As far as I know we are serious on planning to come see you in Chicago sometime in late October/early November if you would like to have us. I will check dates with you as soon as I have some.
What a tremendous year of reconnecting and sharing lives with you. I am so thankful for all the walks, Pampered Chef parties, Catan nights, laundry, babysitting and everything else. Thank you for all the hospitality and many many meals. Thank you most for the friendship, Christian example, and beautiful witness you are to me and everyone around you.
I love you!
~Leann
