Tommy watched with interest as the nurse pricked his thumb and proceeded to take two separate blood samples out. Mommy fought the urge to gag and tried not to look. (For the record, he doesn’t have lead poisoning.) No temper tantrums–I planned ahead today and took him there 45 minutes early so he could play with the cars and trucks in the waiting room for a good long time before seeing the doctor, and that plan really seemed to work well. He also earned a matchbox car for being good during his appointment (they have a treasure chest reminiscent of my childhood dentist), so he happily left the office with a new car in hand. Praise God for a healthy two year checkup!
