We got home yesterday and are trying to get organized. But since today is Janie’s 17 month birthday, I’ll do a quick update on her!
I had a really sweet morning alone with her last week while Grandma and Grandpa took the big kids to the MO State Fair. One thing that I discovered was that Janie is a singer! She babbles all the time and seems to repeat words (last week’s funniest one was “cockpit”–we’d been talking about Uncle John’s helicopter), but she also has started to sing little wordless tunes to herself. She has finally started feeding herself with utensils (her own food or others’ food, whichever is within reach).
Her clearest words are Mommy and NO. She does a hilarious half-somersault position with her forehead on the ground whenever she’s really upset. She has really started scribbling and is now reaching for art supplies as often as her siblings.
100 hours and 19 minutes in the car was a lot. By the last day, I was letting her watch Pooh on the dvd player.
