We’re trying to get Elizabeth to stop sucking her finger. It’s been rough so far.
The guards effectively prevent sucking on the fingers, but she went back to her thumb. We now put on a glove under the right thumb and nasty tasting stuff on the left thumb. Hopefully she’s slowly breaking the habit! Her reward for total success will be a lunch date with Mommy at the American Girl Place cafe, so she is (mostly) trying…

I quickly crocheted something like this when we were working on our E:

That under the guards could be slightly more comfortable than the glove? I made E wear them during the day, when she would sometimes suck her thumb without thinking. At night we had something more like the plastic things. It took a couple of weeks and then she was all good… until about a month ago. Suddenly, when I go in before I go to bed at night, she’s had her thumb in her mouth again! ARGH. We’ve only used the polish so far to try to stop it and it seems to be working. It seems to very much be unconscious most of the time now.
