Five Months Old

Girlies

The Haneys were here all weekend for a fun visit, but I never once remembered to take out my camera and take pictures of all three girls sucking their thumbs and twirling their hair (well, in Susanna’s case, patting the fuzz on her head).  Jonathan did at the end, so maybe some pics will end up on facebook one of these days.  Instead, I’ll just have to do a few randoms of my girls.

Elizabeth has been “reading” to Susanna quite a bit lately.

And she’s trying to potty train Lucy.  So far, Lucy is doing better than her owner.

Rediscovering Cream Cheese

She’s a fan.

Because of our concern over Susie’s growth, I took her in for a weight check today.  She was 12 lbs 11 ounces, so she’s gained 6 ounces in the two weeks since her check-up.  That is within the normal range of growth for breastfed babies, so that is good news.  She’s sleeping through the night again, and we’ve pulled out the exersaucer.  She’s rolling all over the place, too!

Tommy’s Recent Artwork

One of the best discoveries of our cross-country trek was that the kids love spiral notebooks.  At 14 cents apiece during back-to-school sales, it’s a pretty cheap way to keep the kids happy.  Tommy completes an average of one 80 page notebook every 2-3 days.  Here are some of his recent creations (with some additional pictures for laughs):

I think I mentioned before how Tommy will prop up a DVD case on the table and copy every detail he can.  He’s spent a lot of time perfecting the Walt Disney D and Y.

Of course, he still has plenty of baseball pictures…

And there’s always Robin Hood…

Eve (from Wall-E) and a McQueen truck in one picture!

I think this next one is the baseball player-American Girl truck, but I’m not positive.

There are dozens of portraits of Wall-E.

And when he runs out of notebook, he raids the craft drawer and continues on construction paper.  His matchbox cars are another great copying prop.

While we were still at the Reagan library this weekend, he informed us that he wanted to draw a picture of Air Force One.  This was completed within minutes of arriving back home.

And this is a portrait of Uncle John.  I think I see some Hergé influence here.

Two Car Garage

It only took me 6 weeks, but I finally managed to consolidate all of the junk that had lived in our past three basements onto shelving (instead of sprawling across half the garage).  Now we finally have a two car garage!

Smiles

It’s been a rough week of nursing for Susie and me, but she still smiles sometimes (when she’s not rolling over tummy to back and back to tummy at every opportunity).

Last week, I finally caught a time when the family room was picked up and it was still light out!  This room was the pleasant surprise amidst the move-in; from Derek’s description, I was picturing a much smaller space here.  Since it does triple duty as playroom, office, and tv room, the extra space is a definite asset.  You can see how the room connects to our living room…

I love how bright the room is, due to essentially a whole wall of window.

It helped so much when we got our stuff up on the walls.

Normally, I loathe having our ginormous tv on display like this, but it serves a key purpose in blocking the double-sided fireplace.  If you look straight down past the living room, the bathroom door is open at the end of the hall.  The kids’ rooms are to the right, and ours is to the left.

This little nook seemed like the perfect spot for the play kitchen!

And this is a good view of how we have an open counter between the family room and the kitchen.  My kitchen may be small, but I like that I can keep an eye on the kids while I’m cooking.  I was bummed that the kids’ little cube shelf didn’t fit into their bedroom, but it fits nicely in under the counter, and it makes tidying up easier.  Note that Tommy has already begun the wall adorning process…  Oh, and that screen door that you see leads out to the garage.

I’ll try to get one of the bedrooms picked up enough for the next installment…

Obsession

At first glance, it seems like such a sweet picture…

…then you take a closer look…

It’s That Time Again…

Total success during waking hours yesterday, after just a week or so…
