This week, we took advantage of our SB Natural History Museum membership reciprocity to get into the Cranbrook Institute of Science for free.  I’m not a big natural science museum fan in general, and I certainly wouldn’t pay to go again, but it was a fun little field trip.  The kids’ favorite activity: digging for dinosaur “bones” in the special dinosaurs exhibit.

The Kids and Great-Grandpa

Since my grandpa didn’t make it down to John’s wedding, the kids and I drove over for a little visit.

Lisa Simpson was my college Bible study leader, dear friend, mentor, and matron of honor.  We used to hang out all the time when we lived close to each other.  But it has been a whopping four years since we last were able to get together!  The winter weather squashed our original plans to meet up, but she graciously offered to drive over and meet me halfway across the state today for a lunchtime play date at a random mall in Lansing.  We didn’t have as much time to chat as we would have liked, what with keeping tabs on 9 children and all, but it was so sweet to meet each other’s new addition and marvel at how much everyone has grown.  Four (and a half!) children later, this is what our joint lineup looks like:

Time with My Girls

Last week, I was lucky enough to spend most of the day Thursday at Leann’s after dropping Derek off at the airport.  26 years of bosom friendship and counting…how I treasure our friendship!

And on Friday night, Katie took me out to dinner, and we talked for hours.  The traditional Em-and-Katie photo shoot pose has altered very little since our pre-teen days, though our hair is a lot shorter now!

I may get fed up pretty often with flakey, superficial Californians, but God has blessed me with some pretty awesome lifelong girlfriends back home in good old mid-Missouri.

Snow Play

There’s something magical about being the first one out in freshly fallen snow.

Singing Hymns Together

One of my favorite Willett family traditions is singing hymns together around the piano…

We took advantage of free babysitting to go out to Jina Yoo’s for dinner and played Settlers of Catan back at their house afterwards!
