Fun in the sun

Daddy sprays Tommy We had a pretty fun weekend outside…on Saturday, we tackled our back deck area, cleaning up all of the deck chairs, table, porch swing, etc so that we can have a barbeque party out there sometime soon! Tommy got over his aversion to the water and quickly began begging to get sprayed by Daddy!

Tommy sprays Daddy Since it was about 90 degrees out, Tommy helped spray Mommy and Daddy, too. Somehow you’re not as miserable when you’re in your clothes and soaking wet with cold hose water!  Tommy thought this was all great fun.

It was such a successfully wet Saturday that Ann Louise and I took Tommy to the Maplewood pool on Sunday. He loved it, especially the lazy river. It took him about 15 minutes to get used to the glare and the splash, but then he was great. I really need to find him some baby sunglasses! I’m kicking myself that I didn’t buy these great ones with a head strap that I saw last year.

So today I decided that we needed to go get a pool pass so that we can go on our own. You’d think that getting a pool pass would be as easy as going to the pool and buying a pass. Oh, no….not when you live in a tri-town area…you have to go to three different municipal buildings from three different municipalities. At the Maplewood pool, they told us we had to go to the Richmond Heights rec center. At the RH rec center, they told us we had to go to the Brentwood rec center (aka the ice rink) to get a residency permit. My driver’s license with Brentwood zip code didn’t suffice. I know we’re talking a mile radius on all these trips, tops, but when you have to get out a little dude, walk with him into a building, stand in line, find out you have to go to another building, and do it all over again, you quickly discover that you’ve used up all your errand time before lunch and that you have to give it up until tomorrow. I was particularly miffed about this because I had also been to the Brentwood Library (aka Brentwood City Hall) where I also could have picked up a residency permit, as well, if I’d known I needed one. Oh well! Hopefully we’ll get the right paperwork in place tomorrow and actually be able to buy our pool pass and go to the pool.
