Yes, they're watching TV

Poor Tom-Tom.  He’s not been well this week.  His total food intake for the past two days is two bowls of applesauce, a piece of bread, four slices of watermelon, and a couple bites of a hamburger.  His fever hovers between 99 and 101.3.  Overnight, he’s delirious whenever the Tylenol wears off every 4 hours, and during the day, he’s lethargic and cranky.  I try to read to the kids, but Elizabeth’s into the stage where she wants to point to everything, and Tommy just wants to hear the story, so we have two very different listening styles going on right now.  So I gave in yesterday afternoon and let Tommy watch the entire Cars movie.  And will continue to let him watch long stretches of TV until he recovers.

Notice Elizabeth is sitting and signing “please,” as in “please may I eat some more bread on the couch?”

TV can be a great tool for learning and stimulation…we LOVE Praise Baby because it has the same slow movements as Baby Einstein, but plays worship music. Aidan loves Curious George and has learned all about compost piles from him. 🙂 Yes, they will survive, and you will too!

    Tommy looks so sick!

Isn’t it amazing how fast our TV aversion goes out the window when they’re sick? That’s all I want to do when I am sick, so why shouldn’t I let him just lounge and be distracted from his misery? Hope little Tommy is better soon, and that he doesn’t pass it on to the rest of you!!

At our house the problem comes after they’re better. Temper tantrums abounded this afternoon when I informed the kids that they’re not watching any TV today because nobody has a fever! =)

Next step…Tommy figuring out how to “fake” a temperature with the heating pad so that he can watch a movie again…not that I know anything about that from my own childhood…
