Keeping Her Warm in Winter

This morning, Elizabeth flatly refused to put on any of her pants. She wanted tights and a skirt. Since yesterday started below zero without the windchill, I thought this would be unwise. We compromised with tights and a jumper and pants underneath.

Then we headed out to the kids’ consignment store in town to look for a pair of maternity workout pants.  Yes, I’ve been managing to work out a bit every day for the past couple of weeks, but my normal workout clothes just weren’t cutting it anymore.  With trading in a couple things, we got a few dollars in store credit, which helped me pick a shirt and some workoutable pants out of the maternity dollar bin, then I found this 2T dress coat on their winter clearance dollar rack!  I’ve been wanting a dress coat for her all winter, but I couldn’t justify buying one when she had a perfectly good normal one, already.  For a dollar of store credit, however, I couldn’t resist!  It’s a bit big, but she can wear it to church the rest of this winter, and maybe it will still fit next year (?).  She was in no mood to model it, so I had Tommy hold it up for the camera.  You can see that he’s admiring it’s checkered just like the checkered flag in the Cars movie.  Ah, the difference between boys and girls…

I love the coat! She will look like a proper little British girl, which is as it should be for the daughter of a woman with the middle name Churchill. Now if you could just find some long wool shorts and knee socks for Tommy. Your ancestor Winston would be pleased.
