Tommy: Why does Daddy call me Tommy and Elizabeth Lizzie and Susanna Susie?
Me: Because he likes nicknames.
Tommy: That’s silly!
Me: Yes, pretty silly.
Tommy: So silly! He’s kindof like a grandpa.
Me: Kindof. What are grandpas like?
Tommy: They like to tell jokes. Am I kindof like a grandpa?
Me: Maybe. How are grandmas and grandpas different?
Tommy: Grandpas like to joke, and Grandmas tell the truth.
Me: Well, they both tell the truth. What else?
Tommy: Grandpas like to be silly, and Grandmas like to cook.
(and here he is, demonstrating how to be kindof like a grandpa:)
Well, he’s obviously on to us.
But here’s a conundrum: Who would bake a pickle and pomegranate pie, a grandma or a grandpa?
