Photography Class Homework

This morning, my wonderful husband watched the kids while I took a photography class at the Rec Center.   Here are a couple of my attempts to put what I learned into practice!

I think this is called playing with depth of field–it took me several tries to just get the one petal in focus.

Now if only I can remember everything when we’re in Switzerland!

Yah! How did you get the sunlight behind Elizabeth without it making her look dark/silhouetted?

The one of Lizzie is so cute!! Switzerland?!?

Bethany–the teacher had us do a forced flash with backlighting like that. I always thought flash=avoid if possible, but in this kind of situation, there’s obviously plenty of natural light, and you’re just kindof tricking your camera into seeing the face as your eyes do. This is why I need to take classes on this stuff…I don’t have a natural sense of when to break the “rules.” =)

Anna–Yep, Pepperdine is sending Derek and me to Switzerland for a retreat in a couple weeks!
