Spring break found us heading to Michigan, where the girls hung out with Grandma for a few days while I stayed with Mariel and met up with Bethany and Keith for a Jane Austen CCA at Hillsdale! It was great to be back on campus and so great to have a couple days off from Mom Duty and just get to concentrate on being a Janeite again. Then I picked the girls up from Rochester and brought them back down to Hillsdale for a quick campus tour. The Romines drove up to meet us and see the school, then Kristin took the big three home with her to celebrate Hannah’s birthday while Annie and I hung out with the Stauffs, visited Dr. Somerville, and I got to meet Whit Stillman.

Future Hillsdale Girls
Oakley is now Handmade, but the bread is just as good.
I can’t describe in words how much my girls love the Romine girls.
We showed them Mauck, Olds, and the Arb.
Annie loved playing with Hazel!

Then I picked the girls up from South Bend on my way home the next day. In their 26 hours together, the girls had managed to bake about three desserts, play with the Romine’s new chicks, watch movies, talk, bounce, dance, talk, and get a little sleep.

We had a couple chill days at home before Leslie and I worked out a halfway point meet-up for Tommy to go hang out with the Skeens for a few days of his spring break! They had a blast. Brad buzzed Tommy’s hair, the boys wrestled and did stop motion and legos and ate and wrestled and played rugby and football and wrestled and got a little sleep.

Getting connected to new friends in Iowa City has been harder than we expected, but we’re so grateful to live close enough to South Bend and Hillsdale again to see our old friends more often than before!
