Happy 10th Birthday, Susie!

We have another child in double digits!

Susie celebrated by getting up early to open her ten books and other assorted gifts. We had an abbreviated school day so that she could play with her new toys and read new books!

Homemade pork dumplings and chocolate cake with chocolate icing for dinner.

Then on to an Anne of Green Gables-inspired tea party on Friday! Gaby and Olivia, Moriah and Zion, and Amy joined us for a prim and proper day of hat decorating (overflowing with flowers, a la Anne), then everyone adorned themselves in extra jewelry for that additional touch of refinement. They daintily feasted on raspberry cordial, tea, strawberry cupcakes, scones, cucumber sandwiches, fruit salad, and Miss Zion Haveman’s secret recipe chocolate chip cookies. The hostess provided suggested discussion topics. Master Thomas Muller retreated to his room, unable to cope with the amount of giggling emanating from the dining room.

After playing dress-up and holding an impromptu ball in regency costume (sadly unphotographed due to the official party photographer cleaning up the dishes which were all of the hand-wash fine china variety), the young ladies repaired to the great outdoors, where they ran around, played on the swings next door, and frolicked in the attic above the garage. It was a very exuberant few hours Chez Muller!
