In the past few days, Janie has become a completely new baby. Gone are the easy, sleepy days. Despite me being off of dairy and Mexican food for the past week and a half, she fusses all evening, has mucus-filled diapers, sleeps restlessly, and is generally going through that “delightful” 6-week colic stage. Fortunately, Laura […]

Carriers from Laura
Posted in Elizabeth, Friends, Janie, Susanna on Apr 30th, 2013
A bonus with having a babywearing expert come to visit is that you find yourself with new carriers! The girls were thrilled to wear their dolls and stuffed animals. I love, love, love my new Pikkolo. It has all the best attributes of our Bjorn and Ergo, plus a ton of thoughtful little things that […]
Derek was gone this weekend, so Laura came out to visit and help me with the kids! It’s way easier taking all four to the park when there is someone to help…
a birthmark on her belly

I took all the kids to CBS this morning and actually got there on time (it’s amazing how much easier it is to corral four kids when you have a husband around to get people dressed while you’re nursing and eating breakfast). And as soon as I sat down in my small group, Jane had […]
Janie’s One Month Update

It’s been a dramatic week at our house, between Tommy and Derek getting the stomach flu and me trying to celebrate Susanna’s birthday alone and Elizabeth falling and re-chipping her front tooth Friday and Susie being too sick (mild flu?) to even talk to either set of grandparents who called to wish her a happy […]

He has had one 8 ounce water bottle full of pedialyte, two pedialyte popsicles, and about half a pedialyte juicebox in the interim. Maybe 12 ounces, total? He says he’s still not hungry or thirsty. His fever is gone. […]
Awake at 3:30 am

Derek and Elizabeth are on their way to West Virginia. I’m alone with the other three until Sunday night. Please pray that Janie sleeps well the next three nights! I cried twice yesterday evening before Derek came home from work, and that was after seven hours of sleep the night before. Overwhelmed doesn’t even begin […]
All three girls got matching Easter dresses from Grandma Muller, so I finally got them all reasonably clean and wearing them at the same time for a quick little backyard photo shoot. Daddy and Tommy obliged by finding props in the yard.
Fresh and Clean

I just love to snuggle a freshly cleaned baby in a hooded towel!
I admit that I struggled with disappointment for a few minutes when Jane was born–I knew how badly Tommy wanted a brother. But he is such a sweet big brother to his little sisters. I love that even in her sleep, Janie wanted to hold his hand.
