It took a while to get the girls into their grass skirts and facing the same direction…the first night, Susie melted down during the gift opening. Then she wouldn’t hula with her sister. But we finally figured out that Tommy and Elizabeth just needed to quickly move to wherever Susanna was standing, and I’d snap […]

Susanna at 17 Months!
Posted in Susanna on Sep 19th, 2012
Susie continues to be precocious, copying her big sister’s every move. She seems to have entered the terrible twos early–on one nap days, screeches and tantrums are the norm. On two nap days, she’s generally her happy, smiley self! She’s definitely the biggest fan of the back yard–she goes out earlier and stays out longer […]
Officially Joining the “Big Family” Ranks (in March)

After 13 weeks, we can let out the secret! There aren’t just five of us anymore! Susie’s getting some practice in on being a big sister–she’s glad she finally has someone smaller to sit on her lap! The girls and I saw a healthy baby on the ultrasound today (Tommy, to his chagrin, missed the […]
Last night was Tommy’s first soccer class. He’s just signed up for a little five-week program with our parks and rec department. He was pretty excited, and Derek says he ran around a lot and had fun! And on an unrelated note, I just love the look Susie is giving her big brother here!
Wearing Mommy’s Dress

This morning, Elizabeth offered to feed Susie her oatmeal for me. She actually didn’t do too bad–and I managed to eat my own breakfast in record time!
Today I finally managed to catch both the girls in their (relatively) clean blue toot-toots. They weren’t really cooperative as far as photo shoots go, but eventually Elizabeth stood behind me and got Susanna to laugh…
Scenes from Home

This morning, I’m flying down to Florida to see my brother John get his wings. Since I missed his graduation and commissioning (due to an overdue Lizzie), I figured the least I could do was help celebrate finishing flight school! So Derek’s on single parent duty with the kids for four days. Should be interesting. […]
I’ve been pretty good about doing monthly updates for Susie, but I feel like the big kids have developed a lot this summer, too. Since Tommy is exactly five and a half today, I’m doing a three-for-one update! Life in our home is very much how I always dreamed. Books, legos, and doll clothes are […]
