Busy Thursdays
Posted in Elizabeth, Homeschooling, Janie, Susanna, Tommy on Jan 25th, 2018
On Thursdays, we come through the canyon for a full day. CBS in the morning, followed by errands (Dr or orthodontist appointments, Sprouts and Target runs, library, etc), then a picnic lunch and some schoolwork, then French with Marion for all four followed by art class for the big three while Janie and I do […]
A Winter School Day

Yesterday was pretty much back to normal around here. Maryellen worked on her +9 facts with Susie, we had PE down at the track (training for a race in Montana this summer!), and we spent a lot of the day reading Mr. Revere and I (to go with our Lexington and Concord history timeline card).
Just a SoCal girl, going for a walk.

Wearing shorts and flip flops, because, you know, it’s warm and sunny, but a coat because it’s not, like, hot. And a purse, because #accessories.
We had a white Christmas this year! And the kids loved the matching jammies.
Last Girls’ Club Meeting Before the Move

We just haven’t been able to say goodbye to our homeschool crew here, so we moms planned one last get-together this week. Missy hosted the girls’ club (where the girls decorated gingerbread houses–we laughed that this was the THIRD Christmas-themed gathering Missy has planned for us in the past few weeks!), and the boys all […]
Early Christmas in Michigan

Last week, we finally saw snow, visited Hillsdale (where the kids sledded with the Coles), we went to Greenfield Village at night, played in the snow with Grandpa, and had an early Christmas with the Fam (minus Jason & Jen and Matthew & Nicole)! Oh, and Tommy officially fulfilled every Italian boy’s destiny–he’s taller than […]
Last week, we headed up to Milwaukee for a quick visit. We met up with the Driscolls and admired how much our families had grown since JJ and Tommy were the 3L babies back in Indian Lakes Apartments, then while Derek gave a talk for the local Fed SoCal chapter, the kids and I checked […]
Preparing for Christmas with Our Iowa Crew
Posted in Elizabeth, Friends, Iowa, Janie, Susanna, Tommy on Dec 4th, 2017
Tonight the Isbells decided to have a bunch of us over for a Christmas season kick-off party. The under-ten crew came in their pj’s, we had cookies and cocoa and watched a Christmas movie, sang Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with motions, and had an impromptu Christmas carol piano recital. We love these guys!
Grandma and Grandpa’s Christmas Tree
Posted in Elizabeth, Family, Janie, Susanna, Tommy on Nov 29th, 2017
We’re not decorating for Christmas here in Iowa. We’re leaving before Christmas, and we won’t be around much of December. It’s depressing. So I had a last minute idea to go down to Columbia last weekend and at least help cut down and decorate Grandma and Grandpa’s Christmas tree. Of course, the weather didn’t cooperate. […]
