I’ve been trying for weeks to get a really good shot of Susanna’s dimples. Here’s a good one, finally!
I have so many little matters to tell you of, that I cannot wait any longer before I begin to put them down.

The Schaaks gave us their Spikes tickets last night, so Tommy and Elizabeth got to see Ike the Spike one more time before moving. I wasn’t sure how Susanna would do, considering that it was pretty much her bedtime when we got there, but she stayed awake the whole time and was relatively happy. Super loud noises bothered her, but she was basically content.
Tommy and Elizabeth had an absolute blast. It was kids eat free night, so they got to have hot dogs and chips, neither of which they ever get at home. What a treat!
They kept a sharp lookout for Ike the Spike and the Nookie Monster, and Elizabeth danced and clapped at every opportunity. This was Tommy’s tenth baseball game, so he’s getting to be quite a pro at it.
We made it through the 7th inning this time. Go Spikes! As Elizabeth said as we left the stadium, “Bye-bye guys! I see ya later!”

With Derek out of town for three days at a conference, I was even more glad than usual to have Margee come up for a weekend visit! I didn’t get a picture of us together when she was up this winter or while we were both at Hannah and Robert’s wedding, so here’s proof that we do hang out:
Yet another thing I’ll miss about living in PA…the proximity to my DC girls! It was SOOO nice to hang out, catch up on what some of our other college friends are doing, and just talk for hours like we used to back in Mauck. Thank you, Jesus, for really dear friends!

The kids and I have been itching to go strawberry picking at our favorite fruit farm before we move, and it finally worked out yesterday morning. In preparation, we made sure to read Elizabeth’s current favorite, The Little Mouse, the Red, Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear. She quoted it as she picked. In fact, Elizabeth was the biggest strawberry picking fan–once we explained to her that she should only pick the red ones, she was a woman on a mission! Tommy was a little squeamish about the wet and the mud, but after I promised him that we’d take baths, he carried the pan up and down the rows for us.
The kids wanted to show me every one they picked.
Many were eaten on the field. I wisely (for once) dressed the kids in dark clothes to hide the plethora of strawberry stains.
Next adventure: trying out all of my strawberry pie recipes to determine which one is really the best of the best!

Sometimes I complain too much about the kids’ shenanigans without praising them when they’re being good. Yesterday we spent a fun morning at the park and returned just in time for lunch. While I was feeding Susanna and getting everything together, Tommy asked if we could get down his Curious George puzzle to do with Lizzie. I was so proud of him for asking to share with his sister!
I’ll be honest, though–right after I snapped this proof that my children do play together nicely, I walked into the kitchen to make sandwiches and heard, “Elizabeth Laura Muller! WHAT are you doing?” Sometimes peace is short-lived…
