Man, we love NASA stuff… Totally forgot my camera, which was just as well, since my stroller frame broke apart midway through the day, and I had to lug stuff around. But sub-par cell phone pictures are better than nothing, right?
I have so many little matters to tell you of, that I cannot wait any longer before I begin to put them down.

Poor Elizabeth didn’t get to have either of her two front teeth come out naturally. She knocked out the right one years ago (and we’re so happy to have the adult one coming in at long last!), and yesterday she had to get the left one extracted. It had been loose for months, but the adult tooth decided to start coming in behind it, so we had to pull it before it messed up the other tooth any more. This was my first time with a kiddo under laughing gas and with anesthesia, so it was a little nerve-wracking, but Elizabeth did great! The dentist said she needed to stick around the office the rest of the day and show the wimpy teenagers how it’s done. We celebrated her courage back home with fruit smoothies.

The big girls had their annual check-ups with Dr. Vallance yesterday. Everything was healthy!
Elizabeth’s 7 Year Old Stats:
Height: 48.5 inches (62%) (Tommy was 49 1/8 inches)
Weight: 56 lbs (74%) (Tommy was 57 lbs)
Susanna’s 5 Year Old Stats:
Height: 41.75 inches (32%) (Elizabeth was 43.5 in, Tommy was 44.5 in)
Weight: 35 lbs (16%) (Elizabeth was 43.6 lbs, Tommy was 47.8 lbs)
Conclusion: Elizabeth is turning out to be built like Tommy, and Susie Q continues to be a total peanut. Dr. Vallance said that’s just the way God made her, and since she’s up to a BMI in the 17 percentile this year, she’s actually a little bigger.

We did a little weekend getaway to the nicest parts of SoCal!
First stop: Newport Beach, where Taylor finally took Derek surfing. The wives and kids were way too far away to actually see much of it.
Notice that Janie is wearing her cowgirl boots. On the beach. Not kidding, she wears them everywhere.
And this is way zoomed in, the best shot we have of Derek on the surfboard (and he was going out, not coming in). Turns out when there are dozens of people in black wetsuits about a quarter of a mile away, you can’t necessarily pick your husband out of the lineup.
The highlight for the kids was helping Calvin catch about 25 crabs.
The kids loved eating out–six meals in a row!!!
The rest of Saturday, we hung out in the hotel, had dinner (CPK, of course!) with Natalie and Chris, and the boys went to an Angels game while the girls and I listened to All-of-a-Kind Family in bed. On Sunday we headed down to San Diego to attend the McBrides’ church and then on to the Padres/Dodgers game!
And Janie amazed us with her ability to fall asleep in the midst of 43,100 screaming baseball fans…
Now we’re just trying to catch up on laundry and unpack…
