Nope, the baby’s not here, and we’re not going out to Maryland now. Don’t really want to talk about it today.
Last night’s farm share was the biggest we’ve had yet:

That’s five more heads of broccoli, carrots, spinach, romaine lettuce, asparagus, chives, and radishes.
And I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much asparagus in my life…Derek lined it up just for fun:

Too bad I hate asparagus. Even the smell of it cooking. Especially when I’m already cranky and uncomfortable. So we’re going to grill out this weekend, and Derek promises he will take care of it all and do it outside so I don’t have to smell it. I think we might have to give a bunch of it away, though.
Last week I kept thinking I was going to have the baby, so I didn’t plan too much in the way of using up our veggies…we still have three heads of broccoli and a bunch of scallions from last week! So since I’m now convinced the baby won’t be coming until we induce next Wed, I’m trying to organize more meals…chicken/broccoli stir-fry, rice loaf, broccoli-cheddar soup, etc…and Tommy and I already made Carrot-Applesauce Muffins this morning because we felt domestic at 6:30 am.
Oh Emily. 🙁 *virtual hug*
don’t be discouraged, remember it’s GOD’s timing! ((hugs)) and your countertops are gorgeous!
That makes me think of eating fresh-cut asparagus on the farm with my grandma! Probably my favorite vegetable. I wish I could take it off your hands for you.
I love asparagus! I would take some. It was really great to talk. Maybe this baby isn’t coming just so we get a daily conversation in! 🙂
I completely understand how you are feeling…I will be praying!!! Try to relax these next few days and enjoy being with Tommy. I will talk to you soon! Your veggies look wonderful!!! Have you try anything more out of Deceptively Delicious?
mmmm asparagus… it’s too bad you don’t like it; I have a yummy recipe for cream of asparagus soup I’d pass on if you did! I am just so impressed with the pictures of your produce — it looks *so* fresh! Any plans for those radishes? I’ve never gotten them before, but I’m curious… 🙂
We weren’t the biggest fans of raw radishes last time we got them, but they cook down in soups to something in between an onion and a potato, if that makes any sense. So I’ll probably chop them up and toss them into something!
That’s a good idea! You should come up with your own “deceptively delicious” cookbook… figuring out how to sneak beets, radishes, asparagus and other less palatable foods into yummy dishes (not to “hide veggies” per se, more to expand variety without making anyone in your house feel nauseated) 😉 I bet you’d be great at it!
