Elizabeth is 6 months old today! Because of all our upcoming travels, she doesn’t get in for her 6-month check-up for another three weeks, so I don’t have her stats yet. She is sitting up on her own all the time now. After two blah weeks of introducing rice cereal, we’re making it thicker, and she really loves it suddenly! For a change of pace, we’re going to start her on pear today. (All those people who say not to let your kids have fruits first because they might get a sweet tooth have obviously never tasted breastmilk…) She is so smiley and loves to have people smile at her. She’s starting to get separation anxiety, even with the sitter I have come every week during my class, but she’s also a big Tommy fan, so if he’s around, it helps.

Elizabeth’s personality is so different than Tommy’s. While she likes to be held more than he did, she’s not a snuggler. She won’t nap on us like Tommy did, and she’s a determined tummy sleeper in her crib (even though we followed the guidelines and kept her on her back until she could roll over). She’s not as active as Tommy was–he was rolling across the room at this stage, but she rarely rolls if there’s entertainment in view (especially her brother playing with his cars in front of her). She never would take a paci, but the starvation method worked to get her to take a bottle, which she does whenever we leave her with a sitter now. Hurray! And her thumbs are her constant companions–usually the right, but occasionally the left. She’s starting to scootch and has a very strong back from living on her tummy so much. I thought she was starting to teeth a couple weeks ago, but the fussiness, drool, and hand-gnawing have gone down, so maybe she’s destined to be a late teether like her brother and her mommy, after all. Basically, we’re pretty glad to have our Little One around! =)
